It was a night of pure footballing drama as Atlético Madrid secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Athletic Bilbao in an intense La Liga encounter.
The match began with the visitors taking the lead in the 23rd minute, thanks to a clinical finish by Aitor Paredes. The first half proved difficult for the hosts as they struggled to break through Bilbao’s organized defense. However, everything changed after the halftime break.
Diego Simeone’s side emerged with renewed intensity in the second half. Antoine Griezmann restored balance early in the 49th minute, shifting the momentum in favor of the hosts. Just five minutes later, in the 54th minute, Alexander Sørloth found the back of the net to put Atlético ahead.
The true drama unfolded in the final minutes. In stoppage time (90+3'), Sørloth struck again, securing a crucial brace and seemingly sealing the match. Although Athletic Bilbao’s Guruzeta managed to pull one back in the 90+7th minute, it was too little, too late to change the outcome.
